Full Description:
A simple, flexible and practical approach to art activities, this book enables group members to explore and discover their own level of artistic skills, creative styles and preferences. Fifteen session plans, with each session lasting approximately one hour, cover: basic areas in art, such as colour, composition, shapes, lines and forms; and main categories in art, including flora and fauna, environment, human, abstract, spiritual and the fantastic. There are at least three options for each session, giving flexibility and choice to allow the group facilitator to arrange a programme to suit the needs of group members.
Includes ideas and information on preparation for the activities, and a number of additional project ideas that can be adapted by the group facilitator to produce further session plans.
Although specifically designed for adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and sensory loss, people with mental health needs and older people, the activities can also be used by teachers and individual artists.
The group facilitator does not need to be competent in art skills or have training in therapeutic interventions, although enthusiasm, creativity and an eagerness to explore alongside group members is an advantage.
This title enables group facilitators to find a fast, efficient and cost-effective way of meeting individual needs within an art group setting.
